About Mista

"I want my watercolors to trigger a memory in people”s lives so that every time they look at a painting I did for them it will bring back that special moment."
Mista Whitson,
North Carolina artist
The youngest of four children, Mista was born and raised in Burnsville, North Carolina. She now lives in Weaverville, a small town just north of Asheville.
Aside from her love of art and watercolor painting, Mista also enjoys reading, exercising, traveling, hiking, hanging out in downtown Asheville, and gardening, at which is very talented. Her home was chosen as one of the stops of Weaverville's annual garden tour in 2005, and she is also a prior recipient of a local award for Best Garden. It is no surprise that many of flowers in Mista's garden also serve as subjects of her watercolor paintings.
Although she loves Weaverville's small-town charm and the colorful flavor of Asheville, one of Mista's goals in life is to travel and see as much of the world as she possibly can. Another goal very close to her heart is to help encourage people to have positive attitudes.
"I love life and want to share my love of life with others," the artist says. "Sometimes I think small acts of love or kindness mean more than something big."
