Roan Mountain
This watercolor piece was painted for a client in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was done from a photo he had taken as a teen during his travels to Western North Carolina. One of my personal favorites is painting our beautiful mountains and capturing their beauty.
Technique: I created the misty look at the base of the mountains by using a water-saturated brush to pull the paint off these areas. A technique called "wet on wet" was used for the sky. In this technique the paper is saturated with water and then drops of paint are dropped in.
